 What
We Believe
History
Do you find yourself asking the deep questions like "why
is that turtle here?" It has something to do with a recent missions
trip to Okinawa, Japan that some BBC members recently took. For the bigger
questions - the ones YOU may find important - we've compiled a list
and tried to answer them below.
Q: When did Bethany Bible Church begin?
A: In 1954 a group of people had a desire to establish
a non-denominational Bible church in north central Phoenix. Ground was
broken on Thanksgiving Day and the building was dedicated on Easter Sunday,
1955, at our present location at 7th Avenue and Bethany Home Road.
Q: What are the weekend services like?
A: We work hard to make sure every weekend service is
creative and relevant to your life. A greeter will welcome you at the
front door. Once inside, you will find the weekend worship services to
be exciting and dynamic. Our goal is to communicate the Good News of
Jesus Christ in the best way possible and to help people see God in a
real way.
Our services are designed to lead people to a personal encounter with God.
At BBC, you will experience worship through contemporary and traditional music
provided by the Praise Band, Orchestra, Vocal Teams, and the Chancel Choir.
We utilize drama and multi-media to enhance the practical messages presented
each week by our Senior Pastor, Dave Gudgel. We participate in Praise & Worship,
reflect on God's blessings during communion, and learn to apply God's Word
to our everyday lives.
Q: Will I have to say anything, sign anything,
give anything, or be singled out in any way?
A: If you're visiting, we won't ask you to give
a dime when we pass the offering plate. We won't make you wear a
visitor badge or stand up to be introduced. We want you to remain
as anonymous as you want to. We offer a New Attenders’ Class
each week where you can find out about BBC and what kind of opportunities
we offer.
Q: How do I get to the church?
A: Click Here!
Q: What should I wear?
A: Whatever you feel comfortable in. People wear everything
from business casual to shorts and sandals. Feel free to leave the tie
and high heel shoes at home.
Q: What do you have for junior high and high school
students?
A: Plenty! Both our Jr. High and
Sr. High meet on Sunday mornings from 9:00am to 10:30am
and on Wednesday nights from 6:30pm-8:00pm. Sunday morning programming
consists of fellowship, music/worship, and a lesson. Wednesday nights
are small group bible studies. Jr. High meets in Room 200 of the North Building and Sr. High meets in the basement of our Office Building
(room B001).
Q: Do you have a Small Group Ministry?
A: Yes, we have a Small Group Ministry with groups meeting
throughout the valley. For more information about this ministry, call the church office.
Q: What about my children?
A: We believe
that children are the future leaders of the church and it is our privilege
to teach and love them each week. We want Sundays to be a positive experience
for you and your children.
Children ages birth to 23 months of age will be checked in at the Education Building, main floor.
There are four rooms divided by age and developmental stages. All children
are checked in and out and parents will receive a pager.
Parents of children, ages 2 through Kindergarten, will also need to check their
children in at the Education Building. When you sign your child in, you will
sign your name and where you will be during the 1st and 2nd hours. The teacher
will give you a tag with a number on it that corresponds to your child. You
will need to give this tag back to your child’s teacher when you pick
them up. For the protection of your child, please let the teacher know if someone
else will be picking up your child for you. All children wear nametags whenever
they are in the classrooms. The teachers will also be wearing nametags so they
are easily identifiable.
